Running for Student Member of the Board

A real student voice in the room

I'm Yasha — a student who believes the people most affected by board decisions should help make them. My campaign is about turning student concerns into action the board actually hears, on housing, mental health, transparency, and the cost of studying.

What I'll fight for

01

Affordable, honest studying

Push the board to freeze hidden fees and publish a clear breakdown of where student money goes. No more surprise costs buried in fine print.

02

Mental health that responds

Shorter waitlists for counselling and real funding for student wellbeing — treated as essential infrastructure, not an afterthought.

03

Decisions made in the open

Board minutes and budgets shared with students in plain language, plus open office hours so anyone can raise an issue directly with me.

04

Housing that actually works

A serious plan for affordable, safe student housing — and pressure on the board to treat the shortage as the crisis students live every day.

Who I am

I'm a third-year student who got tired of watching decisions get made about us, without us. I've spent the last two years organising on campus — running the housing support group, sitting on the student council, and pulling together the petition that got study spaces reopened after hours.

The student member seat isn't a title to me. It's a chance to carry what students actually say into the one room where it counts. I'll show up prepared, I'll report back honestly, and I won't go quiet once the votes are counted.

Let's get this done

Voting opens the second week of June. The biggest thing you can do is vote — and bring a friend. If you want to help the campaign reach more students, I'd love to hear from you.
